Think You’re Pregnant?

When you are sexually active, there is always a chance you can become pregnant. A missed period is the most common pregnancy symptom, but there are others.

Early Pregnancy Symptoms

There are many symptoms that could indicate you’re pregnant. The Mayo Clinic lists the following as common early pregnancy symptoms:

  • Missed Period
  • Slight Bleeding
  • Swollen/Tender Breasts
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea/Morning Sickness
  • Backaches
  • Headaches
  • Frequent Urination
  • Darkening of the Nipples
  • Food Cravings or Aversions

How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?

You need to take a pregnancy test to determine if you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests measure the amount of hCG in your urine. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a pregnancy hormone produced when a woman gets pregnant. We provide our tests on-site, and you will have the results during your appointment.

What If I’ve Already Taken A Home Pregnancy Test?

While a home pregnancy test can be accurate, the most effective way is with a lab-quality test. Our pregnancy tests are 99% accurate and are more sensitive than most over-the-counter tests. Our tests can detect the hCG pregnancy hormone as early as 7 days after conception or 21 to 24 days after the first day of your last period.

When Is The Best Time To Take A Pregnancy Test?

Although our tests are highly sensitive, the best time to take a pregnancy test is after your missed period. If your period is regular (every 28-30 days), take the test a day or two after you expect your period to start. If your monthly cycle is irregular, wait 5 or 6 days to take the test.

If The Test Is Positive, What’s Next?

A positive pregnancy test is only an indication of pregnancy. You need an ultrasound to confirm if your pregnancy is viable (growing with a detectable heartbeat) or if you’ve had a miscarriage. The Mayo Clinic suggests up to 20% of known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage. The actual number could be higher because many women miscarry before realizing they are pregnant.

If you think you may be pregnant, schedule your free, confidential appointment today. Even if you’ve taken an over-the-counter pregnancy test, you should take a lab-quality test to be sure. Results can be detected as early as a week after conception.
